Fall 2024 Practice Field Grids
Registration for Fall 2024 Kiddie Kick is closed. Spring registration will begin on January 15.
Kiddie Kick is a program developed for our youngest players (U04/U05). The main objective is to develop a love for the game. The activities focus on body awareness, basic dribbling skills, and having fun! Commitment to repetitively practicing the core skills in younger players is crucial to unlocking their full potential and creativity as they become more experienced players.
Each Kiddie Kick season is comprised of six, hour-long sessions that are held weekly. Kiddie Kick teams do not play scheduled games, but will often scrimmage one another during training sessions. Players will be divided into teams of approximately 8-12 players each, with 2-3 coaches per team. Coaches are provided a training curriculum that is player-centered and developmentally appropriate. St. Mary's Soccer always needs volunteer coaches, so please register here.
Please note that Kiddie Kick has two age groupings. This causes some confusion when parents are expecting friends, cousins, etc., to be in the same group. The age groupings for the fall 2024 season are as follows: U04 (Jan. 1, 2021–July 31, 2021) and U05 (all of 2020). Players must stay in their age group. Kids born before 2020 will play in U06 or above. Kids born after July 31, 2021, are not yet eligible for Kiddie Kick.
There are only three locations/times for all of Kiddie Kick: Monday (6–7 pm) at Chancellors Run Regional Park field #2, Saturday (8:30–9:30 am) at CRRP field #2, and Saturday (8:30–9:30 am) at Chaptico Park field #2. Because of this setup, kids don't need to be on the same team to facilitate carpooling.
It takes us a little time at the start of every season to get all kids sorted onto teams, and it takes even longer to find coaches for every team. Rest assured that parents will hear from a coach before the first session. There's no need to panic!
If for some reason you haven't heard from a coach (communication does break down sometimes), please head to your location on the first day. SMS representatives at the field will be able to tell you exactly who your coach is and where they are located.
Please consider volunteering to coach, which you can do through the same system you used to register your child. It is a truly rewarding experience that requires no expertise. We even provide a full season of practice plans. Nothing causes more delays than the search for KK coaches that happens every season.
When Kiddie Kick coaches have their rosters, it is their responsibility to reach out to the parents of players on their team. Be sure to check your spam folder if you haven't heard from a coach. In the event you don't hear from a coach before the first training session, just come to your location (either Chaptico Park field #2 or Chancellors Run Regional Park field #2), and a staff member will happily direct you to your coach. See below for the field grids to find your coach.

Spring 2024 coaches' training will be Saturday morning, March 16. More details to come.
Kiddie Kick coaches do not need to bring any equipment. Players should bring their own soccer balls, and each practice area will already be set with a pair of small goals. A bunch of cones will also be placed in each area. At the end of each session, coaches should pack up their cones and goals (which usually have Velcro strips to keep them from popping open), then bring them to a common area. For example, at CRRP, all equipment can be placed by the gate nearest the Loffler Center building. Do not leave your equipment sitting on the field, as older teams use the fields after KK sessions are done.
The county requires all coaches to submit a background check once per calendar year (i.e., every spring season or every fall season, depending on your schedule). Physical badges are no longer issued to coaches. The county keeps an active list of approved coaches, and we check this list each season.
WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING
All players are required to wear shin guards covered by socks and sneakers (or cleats if you have them). Your child will also need to have a size 3 soccer ball (marked with their name) and water bottle (marked with their name).
Parents are required to remain outside the fence once a session begins. Anxious children can come over to the fence if they need to speak to their parents.
There are restrictions as to what is allowed on the synthetic fields. No chairs or spectators are allowed. Only water is allowed on the turf. Sports drinks and juices are prohibited.
